　1986年4月21日から開始した坂本龍一氏（以後「教授」）のキャリア初のソロツアー、メディアバーンライブは、全国24箇所28公演で行われた。私にとっても人生初で最後となった大規模ツアーの経験だった。本ツアーは1986年4月21日に発売されたアルバム「未来派野郎」の発売を受けてのツアーだ。本ツアーは、アルバムに込められたコンセプトを音楽と舞台デザインそして演出によって具現化するというものだった。そのため様々な部分に教授の叡智が込められた。

Media Banh Live Tour was Ryuichi Sakamoto’s first solo tour on his carrier. The tour started Apr 21 in 1986 at Khoseinenkin Kaikan(The welfare hall) in Osaka city and be held at 24 cities,28 performances. The basic concept of the tour was his latest album at the time called “Miraihayarho(Futurista)”, which was released Apr 21 in 1986. He put his album concept into his own stage performance, costume, stage set design. It was my first and last big tour experience.

メディアバーンライブのバックメンバー選定は、教授と生田朗氏が主導していたと思われる。生田朗氏は海外のミュージシャンとの交流が多く、人選の引き出しが多く、且つ英語が堪能だったため当時の教授のブレーンとして活躍していた人物だ。ちなみに彼の当時の妻は歌手の吉田美奈子さんだ。
人選の打ち合わせは選定者の資料やビデオを見て、生田さんが教授に詳細解説をし、教授が決定をした後に生田さんが来日の条件交渉をしていたと思う。ヴォーカルの選定会議でハービー・ハンコックのライブ演奏で唄うBERNARD FOWLER氏の姿をテレビで見た記憶がある。そして1986年4月に入り、リハーサルの時期を迎え、メンバーが続々と東京に来た。我々は彼等を芝之東京プリンスホテルに連れて行く。ヴォーカルは、BERNARD FOWLER、KYSIA BOSTIC、LINN MABRY。ギターはRONNIE DRAYTON。 パーカッションはDAVID VAN TIEGHEM。キーボード：ROBBY KILGOREという布陣だ。

Mr. Sakamoto and Mr. Aki Ikuta selected live members. Aki Ikuta was Mr. Sakamoto’s right hand man at the time. He was good command of English and knew every major musicians and thier phone numbers in N.Y. Mr. Aki Ikuta were gathering musicians data and biography and so on. I remember when they were watching Bernard Fowler’s performance with Herbie Hancock video for vocal casting meeting. Mr. Aki Ikuta must negotiate with musicians or their representatives later along.
On early Apr in 1986, musicians were coming to Tokyo. We brought them to the Prince Hotel at Shiba. It was a fine and nice day.
